The
CoreCool™ Personal Ice Cooling System is designed to provide body
cooling and manage heat stress for personnel wearing chemical protective
clothing or workers in an elevated temperature industrial environment.
This system will not prevent the user from perspiring and may not
be suitable for some applications.
This system circulates cold water through a tube-lined shirt. As
the water travels through the tubing, it collects metabolic heat
from the user's body by conduction. After exiting the shirt the
water is at an elevated temperature. The water is chilled when it
passes over ice contained in the ice bottle. Water is then returned
to the shirt for continued cooling. For maximum heat removal, the
liquid cooling shirt should fit snugly against the users body, but
should not hinder movement. |

The system
is powered by three D-cell batteries (housed in the pump unit),
which will provide constant operation for a minimum of 4 hours.
Circulation of the water through the system is controlled by a
three-position toggle switch (off/low flow/high flow) on the pump
unit. The ice in the ice bottle will melt when the system is in
use. This requires the ice bottle to be replaced every 30 to 60,
minutes depending on the users activity.
